Mako watched Tahno’s eyes as Tahno.. circled him. He thought for a moment, for a strategy. There was so much for Tahno to learn, yet not as much time as he had wanted. Mako knew very well that he could hit a moving target, long distance wise but that time had passed. There was too much information to process, Mako didn’t know where to start. He had to pinpoint how much Tahno knew, how he could use it and his reflexes. Mako bit his lip, rethinking his decision. Finally, he replied. ”Light spar. Then we move onto drills. Then more sparring. Are you ‘man’ enough for it, pretty boy?” He sneered, gaining distance closer to Tahno.
From the looks of it, they were in an open space, more than enough room for both of them to fight, practise moves, or whatever else Mako wanted to show him. He laughed pitifully, shaking his head as he flexed his fingers and checked for the last time if his glove was actually working. “Works for me.” He started, taking a few steps back, away from Mako, as he took a stance. It screamed ‘Waterbender’, but maybe it’d be enough for now. Probending had taught him to keep light on his feet, and he doubted the Fire Weasel would be enough of a threat.
“Y’know, by the number of times you’ve called me ‘pretty boy’, I’m starting to feel reallly wanted here…” Tahno lolled his head a bit to the side, a playful grin on his lips. “Do you think me that good-looking, boy? Your girlfriend should hear about that…” He pointed a finger, before rushing to throw Mako a nice jab.
He quickly dodged the jab, fading out onto his right side. His jab hand coming around and pulling him forward. His right hand coming underneath Tahno’s jab hand and chopping right where Tahno’s solar plexus should be. He then pulled on Tahno’s jab hand, pulling him forward, slipping his lead leg through Tahno’s lead leg in the process. ”Don’t open yourself up so much next time.” He said, raising an eyebrow. A small smirk slowly starting to irk it’s way onto Mako’s lips. Oh, how he’s been longing to do such a thing.

Mai became even more angry at him. She noticed his attention to everyone else in the restaurant. She gave a snicker smile, and then her face went completely blank. “Two can play at this gave.” With a snap of a finger Mai started crying, getting everyone’s attention back to them, soon their waiter came back over to see if things were okay. Mai kept her head down and gave a hidden smile.
Mako’s jaw dropped. Out of the blue, Mai just bursted into tears. But how!? He was panicking. Suddenly recalling that, she was, infact, of royal descent. He patted her head. ”I’m so so—” He caught the sudden uprising of her cheeks. Two can play at this game? Well I could play it better. He shot a glare at her for a moment, before he, himself bursted into tears. ”B-But..WHO’S THE FATHER?” He choked out, practially choking on his tears at this point. His face turning into a slight purpleish red as he dropped his head on the table.

Mako’s lips pressed together forming a thin line as he stood in deep thought. There weren’t many places in Republic City that you could call ‘safe’ exactly. Considering Amon and his followers (Equalists) basically roamed the streets freely now. They destroyed anything that came in their way in capturing the Avatar or taking anyone’s bending away. Mako nodded to Katara in reply. It hit him. There couldn’t have possibly been a place that was safer in Republic City than the Undergrounds. But there were some slight complications. They had to go back to Republic City. He bit his lip. He didn’t really know how to put this to Katara. Knowing how devastated she was, and all. ”I know of a place..” He started. ”But there are some…slight complications on getting there.” He said, a hand trailing to his neck as he rubbed a spot. Pabu whimpered.
Katara’s heart pounded, waiting for Mako’s reply. Her other options zipped through her head, but there were few of them and none of them seemed attractive. Then, he finally opened his mouth to speak, and she relaxed.
So he knew of a place? Brilliant. But something about the tone of his voice was off. Doubt? Fear? She couldn’t tell. And then he mentioned “complications” and she understood. Her entire journey with the Avatar was full of “complications” and she often barely made it with her life.
But she would do anything now. Wasn’t an aged life like her’s worth less than the fourteen years she had put at stake then? And Aunt Wu had predicted a peaceful death…
“I don’t care if it’s at the top of a mountain or the bottom of a lake,” she said.
Mako sighed. He didn’t really know how to put this. They would have to go through the city and underground-while dodging off many Equalists at the same time. But of course, he was talking to Katara. Aang’s wife, and of course she’s done much worse. Been through much more than he has when she was only fourteen. Four years younger than he has today..
Mako looked back up at Katara, with slight confidence this time. Almost an immediate response. ”We have to go through the city and underground.” He said. The Equalists were already a given.
